Award-winning engineering consultancy OSL is forecasting a year of expansion and recruitment for 2009 with Hull’s business community one of the key target beneficiaries.
The company, which has just been named Small Business of the Year in the prestigious Hull Daily Mail Business Awards, is looking in particular to broaden its relationships with this region’s engineering sector.
With offices in Hull and Aberdeen, OSL is one of the fastest growing consultancies to the gas and oil industries and is hoping to tap into the huge skill base in the Hull and Humber sub-region.
OSL co-founder and director Alastair Robertson said: “We are growing at such a quick pace. Turnover has risen from £1.5m to just over £3m in the past year and we now have the skills and the ambition to be able to pitch not only for the smaller, local contracts which will continue to be important to us, but also for global contracts.
“However, to maintain this momentum we need to recruit the best engineers in the business and we know that the Hull and Humber region is home to many such people who have developed their careers in the area’s petrochemical, refining and offshore industries which have been the core of our estuary’s economy for several decades.
“Also in 2009, we will be holding a series of events, probably in Hull and Grimsby, designed to create our own business development network. Through these seminars and Jobs Fairs we hope to achieve an even greater profile within our home region, a profile that will enable us to increase our ties with local firms as well as maintain a dialogue with potential recruits.”
This is the second successive year that OSL has had success at the Business Awards. Last year, the company was named Start-Up Business of the Year.
Founded in 2005 by Alastair Robertson and Nick Jones, OSL is looking to double its current staff of 30-plus by recruiting additional office-based staff and around 15 specialist engineers. For further information, click on to www.oslconsulting.com or telephone (01482) 482450.
