Gasport – Teesport Project - Teesside
Installation of the worlds first 100 barg rated ship to shore HP gas unloading arm and downstream gas metering and treatment systems which were subsequently connected to the national grid via a buried delivery pipeline. The Project value was circa £30 million.
Optimus scope of work included the verification of all associated process design, Plant layout, mechanical, piping and civil detail design works.Process design works included preparation of all P&ID’s, Equipment list, line list, Valve data sheets, control philosophy review, SIL review, Hazardous area assessment, Hazop review participation and pressure and velocity verifications.
Mechanical design preparation included plant layout including coordination with skids and loading arm vendors, valve list, tie-in list, Jetty layouts, fire protection systems supplier.
Piping design preparation included piping layouts for all process and utilities systems including fire protection and deluge systems, piping isometrics, Pipe supports and initial stress analysis.
Civil design preparation included site layout including roadways, ground drainage, fencing, pipe culverts, cable trench details, and equipment, buildings, and miscellaneous foundations.
A key element in the successful participation of Optimus on this project was the ability to quickly provide a close knit full time multi disciplined design team with relevant and ample experience in the gas processing field required for this type of project.
Another key reason for Optimus being chosen to perform this work on this extremely fast track project was their ability to be flexible in their quick responses to the client’s requirements due to the large overlap in the condensed design and construction schedule. This flexibility was achieved by employing excellent data control and distribution both to and from Optimus and also regular coordination meetings between the client’s engineering and construction teams and all other design partners participating in this project.
Optimus were also able to provide, due to its staff knowledge pool and experience, assistance with site engineering and commissioning support during construction.
