DESIGN PROCESS
At Optimus, turning your ideas into reality requires us to understand what is important to you and for your business.
Our design process is split into a number of phases largely dependent upon how developed an idea or opportunity may be.
It is important, but not time consuming to develop a written "Terms of Reference" at the outset, which will be based on detailed discussions between you, the client; and our team of experienced engineers. The written reference then acts as a record of your objectives and any constraints within which we need to work.
Each idea or opportunity is unique in some way and will always be treated as such by the team. We will, of course, utilise our experience and knowledge of other similar or related ideas to suggest a number of potentially feasible options of meeting the objectives and overcoming the constraints. We will also introduce a level of alternative out of the box thinking related to "sustainability and efficiency" to ensure that we incorporate latest technology and thinking to the options selection process.
Once the options have been defined, selection of the most viable one is carried out using a set of criteria which are related to the particular idea. Each is ranked out of between 5 - 10 criteria and an overall score defines the option to be best overall. Quite often it is the option which seems to be right that achieves the highest score. This process does apply a degree a rigour and justification to the selection.
The early part of the idea's development is designed to be quick yet robust; by its nature it is efficient given the right involvement of individuals.
